APEX Customer Event 2018 – Browser Metrics based on Lighthouse

I recently had to the pleasure of spending a few days with our amazing customers at our annual user conference – APEX 2018. This year, it was held in Stockholm and was packed with excellent sessions on the importance of user experiences, integration news and discussions on what’s next. If you missed this year’s event don’t worry we recorded a selected set of the sessions for you to enjoy.

The major news was the our new monitoring with Apica Browser metrics based on Lighthouse. This check will greatly improve your ability to verify and analyze the rendering of the page using all of the new metrics supported by Chrome. Regarding Lighthouse, it is an open-source, automated tool for improving the quality of web pages. Users can run it against any web page whether it is public or requires authentication. It includes audits for performance, accessibility, progressive web apps, and more.   Apica is now among the first to support this metrics natively embedded in a synthetic monitoring 24 by 7.  As an example the new capabilities include access to the set of Paint and Interactive metrics. This delivers more details vs previous browser supported metrics.

Apica stores all of the results in a waterfall diagram and allows you to compare metrics over time, thereby providing you with an excellent way to track and improve user experiences with consistent metrics.

I wanted to share a few things that stood out to me at this year’s event. First, I was impressed with the knowledge of our customers as many took part in sharing their thoughts and approaches to better performance monitoring. Understanding what customers are doing and more importantly dealing with in their environments helps us to make sure we deliver the best performance platform possible.

Second, there were many conversations around improving user experiences and understanding what was next when it comes to performance monitoring/management. This is a big deal as more and more companies are launching applications regularly making the IT infrastructure monitoring more complex. This is where understanding the benefits global synthetic monitoring delivers helps companies get the visibility they need to ensure business critical applications are performing.

 

Finally, it was clear that there were many conversations and networking opportunities between the Apica team and our customers. It is always a pleasure talking with and learning from each and every one of you.
